Over the last 3 years, I've been developing and beta testing an 8-week "songwriting experience" - that leads participants step-by-step through the intuitive process of GUT-TO-LYRIC and SPEECH-TO-MELODY to create, record, perform and finally, release an original song! Accessible to non-musicians and musicians alike, the purpose of this workshop is to empower courage, creative authority and self-expression through the revered medium of songwriting, and to Reveal Yourself To Yourself – in a song.

I've worked with 8 groups so far, including teens at Harmony Academy, a public high school for kids in recovery from addiction. This Spring, in partnership with PSU, I'm bringing YOU ARE THE SONG to incarcerated women at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility through their Higher Education Program. Joining me will be a team of acclaimed songwriters, and we are fundraising $15k for this program and would love your help!

My new single "Gaslight" is now officially out! It was cathartic for me to write this song - about my personal experience all these years navigating my way inside a male dominated music industry. Recorded and co-produced with John Askew, the track centers around piano and voice with backing vocals from Tarshene Watkins and Jeannie Wiggins, my long ago bandmates from Motown funk supergroup Body and Soul. Featuring my acoustic quartet including Jenny Conlee (Decemberists) on accordion, Keith Brush on upright bass and Ji Tanzer (Blue Cranes) on drums and percussion plus a stunning woodwind and horn arrangement by world renowned composer Kelly Pratt (Arcade Fire, Coldplay)..

I’ve been recording a new song called “Gaslight” ! Here are some behind the scenes studio footage and a sneak peak of the recording. I recently had the honor of composing music for a play called Madonna of the Cat, written by playwright Sue Mach and directed by Gemma Whalen. It made its world premiere at 21Ten Theater in Portland, Oregon on November 1st. These songs represent the inner life of the main characters: Queen Hermione, her lady's maid Paulina, the shepherdess Donna, the infant princess Perdita and the Bear. I did my best to capture the beauty and strangeness of their world and the visceral layers of tension and resolve present throughout the story.

Hey friends- I'm excited to release this new song written about a friend of mine, who passed away a couple of years ago. I had the profound experience of being able to say goodbye - and I wrote this song as a tribute to him and the ripple he created in the lives of so many musicians here in Portland, Oregon. In the studio, I invited a group of Mike's friends who add some epic collective vocals to the end of the song.

Cry With Me was selected to be featured in RISE Film Festival! Co-presented by Catalyst Film Collective and Women in Film, the festival features seven short films tied by themes of rising above life’s challenges to uncover our truest selves. I'm thrilled to be part of this incredibly rad line up. Joins us for the screening this Sunday!

In the studio mixing the newest single Empire (from the upcoming album CROSSFIRE) with John Askew at Bocce Recording located in Vancouver, WA. The song was written during the pandemic and features Rob Burger on ambient keyboard sounds and Ji Tanzer on the drums.

Oregon Symphony's Lullaby Project teams up songwriters up with women experiencing homelessness to help them write a lullaby for their kids. Here's a moment from the recording at the Old Church of the song "Love's Thorn" - written by the mother Stephanie worked with. With Stephanie's help, the song landed with a melodic and dark, heavy metal vibe - strings and all!

Stephanie's trio rehearses Tom Waits' tune "Jockey Full of Bourbon" on her back patio (pandemic style) with Allen Hunter on upright bass and Tony Furtado on slide guitar - in preparation for a series of shows she created called City Serenade, performing at several iconic locations around the city of Portland.
